You have to look up here to enjoy one of the greatest landmarks: the sky. The Icelandic clouds whizz across on fast forward and the whole look of a place changes with the sky. It's almost impossible to anticipate if you're going to get burnt or rained on in the next 10 minutes - apparently there's an Icelandic saying that goes if you don't like the weather, wait 15 minutes. Reminds me of summers in the UK when I was young, rushing out to the back garden in my best sunbathing outfit just to find that the sun had gone behind a big cloud and it was freezing! In Barcelona there's not a whole lot to be gained by watching the sky as it's not normally clouding up or clearing behind your back. Now in Iceland that seems a bit bland.

Hi you two - really enjoying this!
ResponderEliminarI've wanted to go to Iceland ever since Tom's dad was posted there a few years ago - he had loads of amazing stories to tell - like the roads that suddenly do a sharp bend to go around something invisible "because the little people live there"...
By the way...
'If you don't like the weather, wait 15 minutes' is what they say in Edinburgh too!
Besos,
Jessica
Hi Jess! Yes think you mentioned about Tom's dad at the last party! Absolutely worth making the trip, you wouldn't be disappointed... it's just as beautiful as I'd imagined and very other-worldly and peaceful, excellent for destressing and detoxing, also very kid-friendly. Will keep you posted! x
